Problem:

How do I register a new accessory handset to the base?

Solution:

Charge the new handset before attempting registration.

The unregistered handset will display: Put HS on BASE to register. If you do not see this message, lift the handset from its charger for a few seconds, then place it back in the charger.

Now, place the handset in the Base. Soon, the handset will emit a series of tones, and HANDSET Registered is displayed. The newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset, when successfully registered. If registration is not successful on the first attempt, the process will automatically repeat two more times. Allow a few minutes for registration to be completed.
